"We are firmly joined to the Body of Christ, and the Kingdom of God 'is not of this world.'
At most, we may say, "My father has died," or "My mother has died." We may say this for one day, five days, or ten days.
But if I truly believe in God, and if I truly loved my father and my mother, then I will pray for their repose and entrust them to the Church's eternal remembrance:
to the intercessions of the Most Holy Theotokos, to the commemorations of the saints, to the mediation of the Holy Forerunner, and to the ceaseless uplifted hands of the Great High Priest, Jesus Christ, who day and night offers the unbloody sacrifice at the heavenly altar for my mother, for my father, and for every departed soul.
